AtoZChallenge 2020

Greetings Lovelies💖, hope you are all having a good day. We are on C already, don't the days go by quickly. Today we have C for Club and here are all the juicy details about The Manor itself.

C is for Club - The Manor

C is for Club

The Manor is a very exclusive, members-only country club, which also happens to be a sex club. The members all know not to talk about it, to borrow a phrase, the first rule of the Manor, never talk about the Manor. Not that they can. The property and all those in it are protected by some very powerful magic that makes betraying the confidence almost impossible.

New members have to be nominated by current members and then vetted before they are invited to join. Thanks to the protections there is usually very little trouble and the number 1 rule every member and resident has to agree to is consent. Breaking that rule brings with it consequences a great deal more serious than losing membership.

Most of the members are human and know nothing about the supernatural, but a few are aware of the species they party with. These are known as special members/clients.

The Manor provides a playground for its members and a place of safety with easy access to various feeding requirements (all adapted to make sure no harm comes to the members) for those who live there. It is a haven for all.

Opening Times

  • Monday: CLOSED
  • Tuesday - Friday: 6pm to 3am
  • Saturday - Sunday: 12pm to 3am

History

Lucy laid the foundation stone of The Manor in 1755, but the building has been extended and converted many times since. It was a normal house when first built except for the Theatre (see below), which was part of Lucy's original plan to provide for those living there.

Current Layout

The main building of The Manor has 3 floors above ground.
  • The ground floor is where the patrons play, to the left of the front door are drinking and dining facilities, to the right, the rooms for the sexier side of the business as well as the security office. Three of the rooms on the ground floor are double height -
    • The Theatre - the productions here are very much x-rated
    • The Lounge - a casual area where members meets up with employees or other members and discus further entertainment
    • The Parlour - a communal room for those of a more exhibitionist/voyeuristic nature
  • The 1st floor, mostly rooms for the residents, plus Lucy's office. The Top corridor has viewing points to allow residents to watch what is going on in the Theatre, the Lounge and the Parlour without being seen.
  • The 2nd floor, bedrooms, the attic and a few rooms for members with special requests. These rooms have to be booked in advance and can be fitted out with special equipment.
Layout fo the Manor's 2 above ground floors

  • Cellar level, this houses the staff kitchens and refectory, as well as lots of storage.
  • Beneath this there is another room known only to a select few of the residents, this is used only in emergencies.
  • And still beneath this there is a natural fissure, dug out and protected, with very special contents only four people fully know about, one of whom is Lucy. More about this will be revealed in season 1.
  • Outside are more facilities, including a gym, a stables and a golf course
  • The old stable block is converted into living quaters for the Manor's werewolf pack at one end, and the two merefolk at the other, including a salt water pool.
  • There are two lakes on the property, one large, one small. The large one is left well alone because it is someone's home, the smaller one is stocked with fish for eating.
  • There are gardens that provide much of the produce for the restuarant.
  • The estate is also made up of achres of livestock fields, most of which play host to rare breeds used for wool and milk. Meat eaten on the property is locally sourced, but does not come from the Manor's own farm.

Q. If you could build your dream house, what would it look like and what would be in it?

I've always wanted to live in a castle, with all the mod cons of course, and I'd love lots of rooms so I could have lots and lots of people to stay.

My other self (Natasha Duncan-Drake) is also taking part in this years AtoZChallenge over at Tasha's Thinkings. Her theme is Vampire Drabbles (100 word stories). C is for Cure

  1. This is very well constructed! I would definitely visit (if someone invited me) :D And now I'm curious about all the secrets...
My dream house would definitely have a huge library.

    1. So would mine :) Now you have reminded me, I knew there was something missing in The Manor - I will just assume everyone has their own little library 💖

  2. Dream House -- good question!

I like the house I live in very much.

With one exception: the bathrooms are too TOo tiny!

If I could make my house more "dreamy," big bathrooms (with at least one jetted tub) would be a must.

I'd also like an outdoor garden-like patio oasis with a hot tub. :)

    1. I sense a theme 😂💖 I too would very much love a jetted tub, a big one with lots of space to get in and out.

  3. Cool theme. I read a book similar to this, but it didn't have the cool magic aspect. That really makes this interesting.

My dream home would be a pretty basic cabin in the woods. Or a cave. I don't know, I just like being outside.

    1. Thank you, I very much hope people like it.

I don't mind a cabin, as long as it has all the mod-cons 😂. Nature is a wonderful thing.

  4. Your theme is awesome. What a wonderful way to introduce someone to a story. The layout of the manor - both practical (I love maps) and enticing - teasing readers with mysteries to come (not to mention the secrets of the reserved rooms). Good luck with the challenge.

    1. Thank you very much. I had fun making the layout. It's not something I do very often, I tend to write in a chaotic way, but I felt it was important for The Manor.

  5. The Manor sounds like quite a hub of activity. If you're going to dream, dream big. It sounds like a place I read about in the hills of LA in the book, "Thy Neighbor's Wife." It was a pleasure ranch of sorts.

  6. Brilliant! I like that the number 1 rule is consent :-)
