AtoZChallenge 2020

Firstly, I must apologise that this was not posted at my usual time. I made a small mistake that anyone with Blogger will recognise. I needed to edit the scheduled post and clicked save instead of publish afterwards, so it went back to being draft rather than ready to go. Sorry.

Greetings, Lovelies, stay safe 💖. For this year's AtoZ I am introducing my new podcast and eBooks, with character intros, places and themes from The Manor. The episodes go out every Tuesday so look up E, L, R & X, or just check out the podcast & book pages.

Today I have more about The Manor and how it opperates, just in case you were wondering.

U is for Unbelievable

U is for Unbelievable
To many humans what goes on at The Manor would seem unbelievable anyway, what with all the supernatural beings and magic that live in tandem with their world, but rarely show their true faces. However, "unbelievable" is one of the main priniciples that protects the establishment and all those who live there.

There have been several madams through history who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law even with friends in very high places. Now Lucy has plenty of friends, some of them as long lived as she is, but she does not rely on this to protect The Manor.

The  enchantments on the property do not just extend to protecting it from invaders. In fact, that is just a small part. The Manor has stood for hundreds of years and never once been investigated by the authorities.

This is because even those who know about it, can't speak of it outside to anyone who does not also know about it. They are completely unaware of this, but it is as if their minds find The Manor to be unbelievable when they are communicating with persons not also affected by the same magic.

When members are inducted into the club, they are first very carefully vetted in secret. If they are accepted, when they first arrive there is a small ceremony which those unaware of the nature of The Manor think is a game, but which binds them to the deeper aspects of the protections. Subsequently they can talk about it to their hearts content with other members, but not to outsiders and not in anyway that might reveal it to others.

As for the financial running of The Manor, the Inland Revenue would also find the real accounts somewhat unbelievable, but Lucy just has very, very clever accountants to deal with that.

Thank you for visiting today, I hope you enjoyed this insight into The Manor.

Please do comment below and link me to your AtoZ posts if you are taking part 💖. If you don't know what to say feel free to use to question below for inspiration, but don't feel you have to answer it.

Q. Have you ever been anywhere you found so wonderful it was almost unbelievable, or so bad for that matter?

I remember visiting The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall quite a few years ago now and it was magical. And I still remember my first time walking on Exmoor as a teenager too - totally like another world.

My other self (Natasha Duncan-Drake) is also taking part in this years AtoZChallenge over at Tasha's Thinkings. Her theme is Vampire Drabbles (100 word stories). U is for Undead

  1. Driving along the California coast from L.A. to Santa Barbara was unbelievable. A vacation through Arizona was also unbelievable. Both places look so different from Michigan.
