Theme Reveal

Hello, Lovelies and welcome to my parlour (said the spider to the fly 😂💖).

For those who are unaware of the AtoZChallenge, it is a yearly event, like a wonderful giant blog hop. Bloggers from all over the world sign up to post every day in April (except for Sundays) where each day is inspired by a letter of the alphabet. Some of us also have themes.

This is technically my first AtoZChallenge, although I have taken part for many years under the umbrella of my alter-ego (Natasha Duncan-Drake - Tasha's Thinkings).

My name is Virginia and I am a writer and narrator of the naughter kinds of stories we all love so much. During April I will be launching my new erotic paranormal romance podcast - Virginia Waytes' Sexy Stories and the accompanying series of novelettes (🔞adults only please🔞). This is the theme of my AtoZChallenge.

Every day I will be posting intriguing information about The Manor, a paranormal epi-centre of fun and excitement including:

• character introductions
• details about The Manor itself
• posts about the paranormal species who reside within The Manor's walls

AND

• every Tuesday I will be releasing a new episode of the podcast and the book that goes with the episode.

So, check back during April for the deliciously naughty adventures of The Manor with all their paranormal entertainment.

Our podcast launch has been planned to coincide with a wonderful blogging event called the AtoZChallenge.

I will be taking part here and check back on Monday, to find out my theme for the month. (Hint: it is pretty obvious  💖😂).

Now for those who have not heard of this yearly happening, the AtoZChallenge takes place every April when thousands of bloggers come together to post every day (except Sundays) with entries inspired by the letters of the alphabet. If you blog and would like to take part, pop on over to this post on the AtoZ site and sign up. All are welcome.

You don't have to have a theme, as long as you use the daily letters, but a theme make it a lot easier in MHO. My other-self (Tasha) has been taking part since 2013.

Domain Issues with https and www when pointing at Blogger - Solved

Domain Issues with https and www when pointing at Blogger - Solved

It has been a busy week setting up everything on VirginiaWaytes.com, but I think we are finally there, my Lovelies. Do let me know if you bump into any issues - thank you 💖.

One of the strangest problems that reared it's head was when I pointed my shiny new domain name at Blogger, who are the lovely people who host this site. Mostly everything was lovely, but one part did not function as expected:

• http://virginiawaytes.com worked
• http://www.virginiawaytes.com worked
• https://www.virginiawaytes.com worked
• https://virginiawaytes.com returned an error

As you can imagine, this was somewhat perplexing. At first I assumed it was our VPN playing silly whatsits, as it occasionally does, but alas, that was not the case. However, it did lead me to discovering WooRank.com, which is a great free service where we can check such things. It does a lot more than that, but after putting in a URL for them to check, we can scroll down to the section called "Indexing" and it will tell us if anything is wrong.

Just to be clear, this website has  "HTTPS availability" and "HTTPS redirect" turned on so everyone's browsing experience is safe and secure.

I used these instructions to point my domain at Blogger: Google's Domain Instructions

This means that after putting in our domain name on Blogger, we will see this:

Under the black bars on the image is information specific to our Google account and will be individual, but it will be in the same place.

We then have to go to our domain name provider and put in the following record into the CNAME section - wherever that happens to be for them:

And we have to set up out domain forward to point to our Blogger URL (e.g. in my case virginiasparlour.blogspot.com).

However, when I did this the first time, as I said above, everything worked except the https:// without the www.

Thanks to this article: Solved GoDaddy Domain Not Working without WWW in Blogger I managed to figure out the solution, even though my domain is with Names.co.uk not GoDaddy.

Turns out the following steps fix the issue:

• Remove the A records above and save.
• Put the A records back in and save (this refreshes the DNS records).
• Take out the domain forwarding.
• Put the domain forwarding back in making sure all domain version forward the same way.

It can take up to 48 to propagate, but it took mine less than a minute and everything was popping up correctly.

I do hope this information might be of assistance to anyone stuggling with the same issue.

A teaser clip as I start to record my masterpiece! #Podcast

Hello lovelies, I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday period and are not caught up in the dreadful things happening around the world at the moment. If you are, stay safe.

So I have started recording the first podcast and, as I am sure you can imagine, this has require much experimentation - some good, some bad and no where near as fun as other experimentation I can think of 💖.

I must say though it has been a giggle to hear myself. We never sound like we think we do, do we? Ah the joys of limited human perception.

Anyway, after much deliberation I have decided on my theme music, which is from a fabulous site called https://filmmusic.io and I finally have my settings tweaked (oh er 💖) so my recording is to my satisfaction. This is a teaser of the music and the welcome for my first podcast.
