AtoZ2020 - V is for Vampires - #AtoZChallenge

Virginia Waytes' Sexy Stories - AtoZChallenge 2020 - V

AtoZChallenge 2020

Hello, Lovelies. I've always had a soft spot for the letter V, which could have something to do with my love of all things vampire. For this year's AtoZ I am introducing my new podcast and eBooks, with character intros, places and themes from The Manor. The episodes go out every Tuesday so look up E, L, R & X, or just check out the podcast & book pages.

Today I am talking about the iconic supernatural beings, vampires and how they fit in to The Manor's universe. Enjoy 💖 and stay safe.

V is for Vampires

V is for Vampire

Vampires are complicated beings, as diverse as the humans from which they usually arise. Lucy is half vampire, the blood drinking kind, the half she gained from her father. He was a powerful human sorcerer, but he was betrayed and turned into a vampire. In this entry I will talking about their species, but there are others, such as energy vampires and even other species of blood drinkers.

Most supernatural creatures have magic only within their own abilities, it does not extend to having free magic to use for spells or rituals, hence Lucy's father's power was severly limited by what happened to him. Lucy was his answer to this, a being created using what magic was available to him, combining usually incompatible species to be more powerful than both, or his human beginnings.

Because of her heritage, Lucy requires blood, but not as often as she requires sex for her succubus aspect. She can sustain herself quite well with a regular small drink.

Normal vampires require more, a pint or so a night as long as they consume normal food as well. If they consume only blood they need more, but doing so is unwise as it can eventually result in an unquenchable bloodlust, the kind of thing that created the vampire horror stories of legend.

Vampire are light sensitive, especially when young, but they do not combust as legend would have us believe. Well-fed they would find it uncomfortable and detrimental to their health after more than half an hour or so. Starving they are likely to smoulder rather than burst into flame.

They have supernatural speed, invulnerability to most weapons, mesmeric powers, great strength, a demonic form, and in some cases, the ability to take the form of bats or wolves. The extent of their powers relies on their bloodline and their age.

As a half vampire, Lucy has a degree of many of these abilities, but not the full demonic form or changing into an animal. She finds bright light uncomfortable, but it not suscpetible to the truly detrimental effects of her species. Frankly she is happy with the balance.

Please do comment below and link me to your AtoZ posts if you are taking part 💖. If you don't know what to say feel free to use to question below for inspiration, but don't feel you have to answer it.

Q. If you could have one power of a vampire, what would it be, and would you be prepared to take one of the disadvantages too?

My other self (Natasha Duncan-Drake) is also taking part in this years AtoZChallenge over at Tasha's Thinkings. Her theme is Vampire Drabbles (100 word stories). V is for Victim

  1. I don't think there are any vampire qualities I'd adopt willingly; I like sunlight and find value in the aging process, so to be stuck in the dark and to stay "forever young" in appearance hold zero appeal.

The types of non-human qualities that appeal to me personally tend to be more of the superhero variety. I'd like to be able to fly, for instance, like Superman. (Minus the cape.) Or have fancy flying equipment, even. Like Wonder Woman's invisible jet. :D

  2. Lucy is an interesting combo!

  3. To me the cost of being a vampire is too high, so I wouldn't make the trade. I would like the ability of an animagus or shifter - to turn into an animal or animal.

  4. Love your take on vampires!
